Purpose
The purpose of the University of Cincinnati student chapter of
the American Society is to develop longitudinal educational and

acquire the attitudes, knowledge and skills to provide high quality
comprehensive and compassionate health care to older patients. The
University of Cincinnati student chapter subscribes to the goals of
the American Geriatrics Society with particular emphasis by the
University of Cincinnati chapter on the following.
- Promotion of interest in gerontology and
geriatric medicine among faculty and students.
- Support for integration of gerontology and
geriatric medicine curricular content throughout all four years
of undergraduate medical education.
- Creation of service learning projects with
community based service agencies and long - term care facilities
that will provide opportunities for students to develop positive
attitudes towards older persons and increase their greater
understanding of aging and the aged and, as a corollary,
students to acquire the necessary skills to provide high quality
health care to their patients.
